TILAAMGUM DAY CARE

The 31st December Tilaamgum Day Care school was established in 1992 by the organizer and one of the members of the movement Miss. Joyce Lamisi Tia and Madam Barichisu Asaana Mahamadu respectively with 87 children.

It was then at the beginning of 1992 and 93 academic year that Madam Mary M. Akayiba was sent to head the school with another teacher by name Rachia Mahama. The number of enrolment increased to 123 pupils and that made it difficult to accomodate the students in their present structure which was a network constructed structure for the Assembly of God church, which was given out to be used for nursery upon a request by Miss. Joyce L. Tia.

A bulding was finally put up by the West Mamprusi District Assembly through negotiation by Miss. L. Tia in 95. They included a two unit classroom, a store and an office, which was commissioned by the president of the 31st DWM and also the first lady of Ghana at that time, Nana Konadu Rawlings on 20th November, 1995.

The first lady during the commissioning donated items which inclueded;

  1. 60 chairs

  2. 4 registers

  3. 3 blankets

  4. Teaching and learning materials

  5. 4 boxes of chalks among others

Efforts were made to get the school registered through the Distirct Assembly's support but failed. From 1993-2000, the nursery provided the L/A primary 'A' school with 320 pupils. The school still faces a challenge of identification since it is still not registered.
